Dr. Kyle Wanzel – Major Gift Announcement

Dear Colleagues and Friends:

I am thrilled to announce the endowed gift of $250,000 from Dr. Kyle Wanzel, our current Program Director. This unprecedented gift establishes the Dr. Kyle Wanzel Plastic Surgery Resident Education and Training Fund at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Kyle Wanzel

Dr. Wanzel’s support serves as a testament to his dedication as an educator and his altruism in giving back to the Division. Notably, Dr. Wanzel is one of the original surgeons to pursue a Master of Education degree in the Surgeon-Scientist Program here at University of Toronto during his residency. Now, as a Surgeon-Teacher, he has invested in training the future generations of plastic surgeons. This has been through his roles of Program Director for the past 9 years, Associate Program Director for 8 years and, prior to that, Director of Curriculum for the Division of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery. In that role he created the Surgical Exploration And Discovery (SEAD) program, Prep Camp, and Medical Student Career Night, and as Program Director he has advanced our Academic Half Day Curriculum and mentored and inspired residents and Faculty to take on new educational challenges.

This passion for education is his “Intrinsic Motivation”, and it has led Dr. Wanzel to donate the stipends he received for his educational role back to the University of Toronto to invest in our residents and support novel educational endeavours.

We are humbled and privileged to count Dr. Kyle Wanzel among our esteemed supporters. Education is the catalyst that drives clinical care and innovation, and its impact transcends beyond the boundaries of our institution.

Thank you, Dr. Wanzel, for your generous gift.
