Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Case-Based Learning Curriculum (PRS-CBL)
The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Case-Based Learning (PRS-CBL) Curriculum is a longitudinal program developed in partnership with U of T residents and faculty to parallel and augment the U of T pre-clerkship Foundations curriculum. This initiative aims to (1) increase early exposure to PRS and (2) address the need for exposure to structured, highly-relevant plastic surgery foundational topics among medical students.
The curriculum features five sessions, which consist of a didactic lecture, interactive clinical case discussion, and a hands-on workshop, while offering an opportunity for students to connect with PRS residents, faculty, and peers.
Objectives
Improve understanding of common plastic surgery-related presentations encountered by diverse specialties, guided by the Medical Council of Canada learning objectives.
Support early technical skill development through supervised hands-on workshops.
Increase early and informed career exploration opportunities and interest in plastic surgery.
Create opportunities for mentorship and meaningful interaction with PRS residents and faculty.
Sessions
Students who attend 4/5 sessions in a given term of the PRS-CBL curriculum receive a certificate acknowledging their dedicated participation in the program, signed by U of T PRS Faculty.
