Jamil Ahmad

Dr. Jamil Ahmad is a board-certified plastic surgeon and one of the most recognised figures in aesthetic surgery in North America.

Dr. Ahmad currently serves as President of The Aesthetic Society — the leading professional organisation for board-certified aesthetic plastic surgeons in North America — making him the first Canadian surgeon ever elected to this position in the society’s history. He is also Past President of both the Canadian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the Rhinoplasty Society, the international organisation for surgeons specialising in rhinoplasty. He has served as Chair for the OMA Section on Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Ahmad is known for his natural results after cosmetic surgery and is sought after for his expertise in rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation procedures, breast surgery, abdominoplasty, body contouring after weight loss, liposuction, fat transfer, female cosmetic genital surgery, and revisional aesthetic surgery. Dr. Ahmad is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and enjoys privileges at the University Health Network and Mount Sinai Hospital.

Dr. Ahmad is the only plastic surgeon in Canada to complete his plastic surgery residency training at the world renowned, Department of Plastic Surgery, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. In addition, he completed a fellowship in breast reconstruction at the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Toronto.

During his time in medical school at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dr. Ahmad received all three awards in anatomy: the Evatt Memorial Medal, the Stoney Memorial Medal, and the Barker Dissection Prize. Additionally, he won the Silver Medal and First Prize in Physiology during medical school. As a plastic surgery resident at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, he was presented the Resident Excellence in Research Award. Additionally, Dr. Ahmad was also awarded the Gaspar Anastasi award from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery for research in facial anatomy and facelift surgery.

As an active participant in current research and education, Dr. Ahmad is consistently asked to present at national and international plastic surgery meetings, including the Aesthetic Society (ASAPS), the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the Canadian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (CSAPS), the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons (CSPS), and the Rhinoplasty Society. He has also been an invited lecturer in many countries around the world including the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Belgium, Norway, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Kuwait, U.A.E., and Iran. He has been invited as a Visiting Professor by many Universities. He was the Course Director of the Annual University of Toronto Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Symposium for over 10 years. In addition, he serves as Co-Chair and Anatomy Lab Director at the prestigious Annual Dallas Cosmetic Medicine and Surgery, and Dallas Rhinoplasty Meetings. He has also been an Aesthetic Society Travelling Professor which is one of the most prestigious appointments made by the Aesthetic Society.

Dr. Ahmad has authored more than 200 articles and chapters in plastic surgery, including articles in Aesthetic Surgery Journal, Aesthetic Surgery Journal Open Forum, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery. He is on the Editorial Board for Aesthetic Surgery Journal. He has published significant work on rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation, breast augmentation, breast reduction, abdominoplasty, liposuction, female cosmetic genital surgery, and patient safety during plastic surgery. He has co-authored both Dallas Rhinoplasty: Nasal Surgery by the Masters, 3rd and 4th Editions and Secondary Rhinoplasty by the Global Masters. These medical textbooks are considered to be the definitive treatises on rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty surgery.

Dr. Ahmad is an assistant professor at the University of Toronto Division of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. He is actively involved in teaching plastic surgery residents and fellows and was the Director of the University of Toronto-Resident Aesthetic Surgery Clinic. He was a member of the University of Toronto’s first Canadian hand transplant team that took place at University Health Network in 2016. He has been recognized by the Division for his research and was awarded the William K. Lindsay Faculty Research Mentor Award. In 2016, he was presented with the prestigious Chair’s Award for making significant contributions to the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Toronto.
