Elective students will experience a very broad exposure to Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Sunnybrook is the largest Level I trauma centre in Canada. Specific foci include: Trauma, Breast Reconstruction, Microsurgical Reconstruction, Hand & Peripheral Nerve Surgery, and Craniofacial Surgery. The student will have exposure to Plastic Surgery patients in the ambulatory care clinics, the Emergency Department, the inpatient wards, minor procedure rooms, and the main Operating Room.

Toronto Western Hospital is a main University of Toronto site for complex Hand, Wrist and Peripheral Nerve pathologies. It is also a main site for adult facial paralysis reanimation and reconstruction. The student will have exposure to Plastic Surgery patients in the ambulatory care clinics, the Emergency Department, the inpatient wards, minor procedure rooms, and the main Operating Room.

Elective students will experience a broad exposure to the intricacies of the reconstruction of the most complex adult Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery problems. Toronto General Hospital foci include: Breast Reconstruction, microsurgical reconstruction of the Breast, the management of Sarcoma and Head and Neck defects, and Lymphedema reconstruction. The student will have exposure to Plastic Surgery patients in the ambulatory care clinics, the Emergency Department, the inpatient wards, minor procedure rooms, and the main Operating Room.
Paediatric Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (HSC)

Elective students will gain familiarity with various aspects of Pediatric Plastic Surgery. The Hospital for Sick Children is the largest pediatric Plastic Surgery centre in Canada and world renowned. Specific foci include: pediatric Hand anomalies, Brachial Plexus injuries, Cleft Lip and Palate repair, Craniofacial Abnormalities, pediatric Burn management, pediatric Facial Reanimation techniques, microsurgical reconstruction of complex deformities, and Ear Reconstruction procedures. The student will have exposure to Plastic Surgery patients in the ambulatory care clinics, the emergency department, the inpatient wards, minor procedure rooms, and the main Operating Room.

Elective students will experience a very broad exposure to comprehensive Burn Care. The Ross Tilley Burn Centre is the largest burn centre in Canada and the only ABA accredited Burn Centre in Canada. Specific foci include: acute burn management, burn critical care, acute burn surgery, reconstructive burn surgery, and the management of complex soft tissue defects. The student will have exposure to Burn patients in the ambulatory care clinics, the Emergency Department, the burn ICU, and the main Operating Room.
