Duretti Fufa, MD

Dr. Fufa received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and completed her Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery. She subsequently completed the Orthopaedic Fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University in St. Louis. Her subspecialty training continued in plastic and reconstructive surgery with a yearlong Trauma and Microsurgery Fellowship at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Fufa is a faculty member and academic leader at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Weill Cornell Medicine, where she plays an active role in residency education, mentorship, and surgical training. She has served as the Orthopaedic surgery residency program director since 2018 where she is passionate about surgical training and mentorship. Nationally, she is an active leader within the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, serving on Council as the Director of the Outreach and International Division. This work has taken her on global outreach trips to China, India, Ethiopia and Honduras.
Her clinical and research interests span fracture care and common hand and wrist conditions to complex wound coverage, limb salvage, and post-traumatic functional restoration.
