Dr. Maleka Ramji is a medical graduate of the University of Alberta. She completed her plastic surgery residency at McMaster University and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Canada) in 2018.
She went on to pursue advanced subspecialty training in Hand, Wrist, and Peripheral Nerve Surgery at the University of Calgary, where she built a distinguished academic practice and became recognized for her clinical innovation, research productivity, and commitment to surgical education.
In 2024, she was recruited to the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Toronto, where she holds the position of Assistant Professor.
Dr. Ramji’s scholarly contributions extend well beyond the operating room. She has published extensively and delivered invited presentations at national and international forums on topics including upper extremity replantation, peripheral nerve surgery, Dupuytren’s disease, and breast reconstruction. Her emerging body of work at the intersection of plastic surgery and point-of-care ultrasound is helping to shape the future of diagnostic and procedural practice in the specialty.
In addition to her clinical and research achievements, Dr. Ramji plays a central role in postgraduate medical education. She is an active member of the Residency Program Committee and serves as Senior Resident Education Lead for the University of Toronto’s Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Training Program.
