Dr. Kevin Zuo completed medical school at the University of Alberta, residency in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Toronto, and fellowship in Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre, Harvard Medical School.

He is a graduate of the Surgeon-Scientist Training Program at the University of Toronto, obtaining a Master of Applied Science from the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering. His thesis investigated translational strategies of enhancing peripheral nerve regeneration and was completed under the supervision of neuroscientist Dr. Tessa Gordon and plastic surgeon Dr. Greg Borschel.

Dr. Zuo's clinical interests are in all aspects of hand, wrist, and peripheral nerve surgery. He has specific interests and expertise in:

1. Reconstruction of osseous non-union (pseudarthrosis) or avascular necrosis in the extremities with vascularized bone grafts and/or microsurgical techniques

2. Management of advanced wrist arthritis following ligamentous injuries or bony injuries such as scaphoid non-union, Kienbocks disease of the lunate, and distal radius malunion

3. Improving function in paralyzed upper extremities with nerve transfers and spastic upper extremities with hyperselective neurectomies

4. Treatment of facial paralysis and facial nerve dysfunction such as after Bell’s palsy or acoustic neuroma resection

His research interests include novel methods of musculoskeletal imaging, peripheral nerve regeneration, vascularized composite allotransplantation, and patient reported outcomes after hand surgery and facial paralysis surgery.
