Dr. Brown is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto and is on medical staff at Women’s College Hospital and North York General Hospital. He is an active participant in post-graduate and undergraduate surgical teaching. In clinical practice since 1995, Dr. Brown specializes in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery, body contouring and facial rejuvenation procedures.
Dr. Brown went on to complete a comprehensive surgical internship at Toronto Western Hospital, followed by a five-year residency in plastic surgery at the University of Toronto. In addition to this, Dr Brown completed a Master’s in Education as part of the Fellowship in Surgical Education and was involved in developing new techniques to teach and evaluate technical performance in the operating room. In 1994, Dr. Brown became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in plastic surgery.
Dr. Brown has gained an international reputation for his work in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery and has lectured on his experience both nationally and abroad. Dr. Brown was the Program Director for the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Training Program at the University of Toronto from 2007 to 2017. Dr. Brown is a member of many plastic surgical societies, including the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Canadian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

1. Surgical Education - Dr. Brown is actively involved in surgical education and residency training. His active research activities are in the area of competency based assessment and the development and implementation of competency based goals and objectives of training.
2. Breast Surgery - Dr. Brown is actively involved in research within the domains of aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery. Current areas of activity involve outcome studies in aesthetic breast surgery, outcomes with the use of acellular dermal matrix in breast reconstruction and epidemiologic trends in breast surgery.
3. Breast Reconstruction Awareness - Dr. Brown is the founder of Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day and is actively involved in national and international advocacy for breast reconstruction.
