About Us

The University of Toronto Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery accepts the most outstanding applicants from across the country to train in the Plastic Surgery Residency Training Program.
Residents

Following graduation from medical school, residents enter a 5-year postgraduate specialty training program leading to certification as a specialist in Plastic Surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. During this intensive surgical training, plastic surgery residents gain experience in all aspects of plastic surgery – both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. The plastic surgery residents who participate in the University of Toronto Education Program in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery are in their final years of specialty training en route to becoming board certified plastic surgeons in Canada.

Supervision

Procedures are performed by plastic surgery senior residents, under the supervision of faculty plastic surgeons certified as specialists by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Patient care including consultations, surgery and follow-up visits, is provided by the plastic surgery senior resident under the guidance of the faculty plastic surgeons.

Consultations

Patient consultations are carried out at The Plastic Surgery Clinic in Toronto. Surgery is performed at The Plastic Surgery Clinic in Mississauga. A quote for aesthetic plastic surgery fees will be given after a complimentary consultation with the plastic surgery senior resident and review with the supervising faculty plastic surgeon. You may be required to return for additional visits to finalize the treatment plan prior to surgery.
